Monthly Meetings

There are many events going on all year long. Every month LIGHT members get together for encouragement, learning, blessing and fellowship. This monthly get together often features special speakers and workshops. LIGHT members also enjoy a wonderful homeschool lending library! 

We meet the second Saturday of every month 9 - 11am at Norkenzie Christian Church, 2530 Crescent Ave, Eugene.

Splash Lively Swim Park
6100 Thurston Rd

Springfield/Thurston area

 

Private "homeschooler only" swim 12noon-1pm! But stick around because you can keep swimming and playing until 5pm! Sack lunches are permitted but there is an on-site concession stand. $2 per swimmer. All homeschooling families welcome.

There will be plenty of information, handouts, homeschool library, flyers, signup sheets, new homeschooler help, fellowship, goodies and much more! Mark it on your calendar! Sign ups are first come first served!

 

School pictures by a photographer to be taken toward end of meeting. Price is only $5 for LIGHT members, $10 for nonLIGHTers. Photography session subject to change.

Special speaker Dick Karman will be chatting with us, answering questions and showing us "Trojan Horse", the short movie that has been turning heads and causing much discussion nationwide! Please try to bring your husbands to this meeting!

 

 

 

November 8th

 

TeenPact

TeenPact is a comprehensive leadership experience that brings kids closer to Jesus Christ, makes them better leaders, and positions them to impact public policy in their state. During TeenPact, students meet important officials, interact with other like-minded students, and have more fun at the capitol than they could have ever imagined. Students leave inspired and challenged with an intensive desire to change America for Christ.

Christmas Around The World! 

Travel the globe to experience sites, sounds and flavors as other cultures celebrate our Lord Jesus’ birth!

Pick your country and produce a project to share with everyone. Dress up, make treats, make a display board or whatever your creative side comes up with!

Basics and Beyond Homeschool Mom's Panel

From preschool to high school homeschooling can be done.  Hear from a panel of moms from various stages as they share what has worked for them.  Q and A to follow!  

 

February 14th

 

Valentine Lapbook Party

Make a lapbook, decorate some cookies and learn the real meaning of Valentine's Day.

Blankets of Blessing

Come help iron, pin, sew the sweetest cotton flannel receiving blankets for LIGHT's annual service project! No matter what your skill level, we can use your servant heart!
Every year we make as many of these blankets as we can to bless the Lane Pregnancy Center!

Dad's Science Fun

Come join the fun as students have a chance to play with science! Dads will man the stations as kids have an opportunity to participate in science experiments with balloons and water!

  • Homeschool Dad's Breakfast

    It is a privilege to be a dad. We know that "children are an inheritance from the Lord." So, we take seriously our job of family discipleship. Being a homeschool dad is full of unique experiences and great opportunities to train our children in the way they should go. Come share breakfast with dads who are in the thick of it, as well. Come and be blessed and encouraged!

We are now collecting Campbell's Soup labels and Box Tops For Education for an ongoing fundraiser! Bring these in to our next meeting or mail them in! Let your relatives know you are collecting them. Every bit helps!
Homeschool Resource Notebook

Help is here! LIGHT has put together a resource book chock full of great info and ideas for new homeschoolers and vets. Lots of encouraging articles and how-to tips for various ages. Yes, homeschooling can be easier! Know someone who could use a hand like this? A newbie? Perhaps yourself! Take advantage of this great item! These are on sale at our monthly meetings.
